To conduct research into the physical characteristics of the Nigerian Territorial waters and adjacent hinterland, the high sea beyond, the topography of the seabed and the deposits on or under the seabed.

Research Programme covers the entire Nigerian coastal zone with the adjacent continental shelf, the continental slope, rise and the abyssal plain.

Our research involves the collection, analysis and interpretation of geologic, geophysical and Oceanographic data such as: shallow seismic, side scan, bathymetry, sediment types, characteristics and distribution, wave, tides, currents, sediment transport, erosion rates and other environmental parameters.
